Hello!

I`m a first year teacher in Japan, teaching English at the middle school level(7th, 8th and 9th grades). I`m having trouble with classroom management including having students constantly talking when I`m trying to teach and getting up out of their seats whenever they feel like it. I heard about WBT when I was in college, and after reading up on it, I think I`m going to try it, starting with my 7th grade students.

Is there anyone else out there who has used WBT in Japan? How did it work for you? What sort of problems did you encounter? I`d appreciate any tips or advice you have! Thanks!

Jennifer

Jennifer...one thing that we have noticed about classrooms around the world is this...every classroom in the world is going to have some challenging students. With that said, whether we teach in Japan, Iceland, or a small rural village in the US, we're going to face challenging behaviors.

Keep reading up on our website, especially "Industrial Strength WBT" under the Goodies menu above because you have junior highers. It's a great place to learn, and keep learning from colleagues who are right there in the trenches with you. This forum will be here as a support base for all of your questions. You may also want to check out the section that deals with secondary questions.

Power to the Teacher!
