TOPIC: Help, I am doing it again

Help, I am doing it again 1 year, 3 months ago #4860

O.K. mighty groan, I know I am an old teacher and yes WBT is hard to get used to...but I catch myself doing a bad, bad thing.

Sometimes in the moment I will look straight at the "child" who is doing the most disruptive behaviors and actually say (from my old teaching days) a line something like this:

John, do you really want me to go to the score board? I think that breaks rule 5, and I am not happy".

John will get a practcie card after 3 warnings, I feel like somethimes I slip and really single a kid out and I know I should not.

Suggestions please-

Hey Annette!

I too do the same thing sometimes. I just remind myself to regroup and continue with WBT. It really hits home if the kid that I am singling out reacts with more attention seeking behaviour:) You all on the forum help too!

I'm with Inutini - catch myself, move on, and aim for decreasing the frequency of my undesirable behavior. After all, isn't WBT a behavior management program for students AND teachers. I have to be patient with students and myself: don't scold (myself), rehearse!

Thanks to WBT I had a sensible day with all the Valentines activities I was doing. It helped keep classroom management 100%, OH Yeah!
