Hello,
Recently discovered and love the WBT method! I would love to start using this in a college math classroom. How would something like that look? (Compared to some of the videos on YouTube).

To main focus points that I'm looking for answers to:

1. A class like Calculus 2, which is fairly rigorous mathematically. Thoughts on WBT for a class like this?

2. When do students get to practice doing problems on paper, and at what point would a teacher do example problems on the board? (Back to more of a college-algebra type class here)

Thanks for your help!

One last question (for now... maybe more as I browse materials!)

How do rules 2 and 3 work in a College class? 2 seems okay, but for rule 3 I've never been in a college classroom where anyone has ever had to ask permission to leave (And I've been in a LOT of college classrooms).

So - are these rules modified for the college setting?

I don't use, or need, the five classroom rules in my college courses. However, I make heavy, continuous use of the Scoreboard. Students either work for extra credit or dextra credit (removing one point from extra credit) or more or less homework. These are both powerful motivators for college students. After a few weeks, I introduce the Guff counter. I also use gestures that are linked to key concepts ... I believe this could work quite well in any college course, math included. Finally, I rarely talk longer than 30 seconds to 1 minute before doing the "Teach-Okay" ... if you wish, you can stop every few minutes to have students take notes ... WBT works wonderfully in college, just make it fun!
