¡Hola maestros y maestras!

I am a kindergarten dual language teacher focusing on English and Spanish instruction. I am also a first year teacher and when I came across this method of teaching I was floored! I have seen bits and pieces that are similiar to this aproach during observations but never all of them used in such harmony!

I am applying this teaching approach in both Englilsh and Spanish and have found that it really works well. I had to do some translation and edited the visuals for spanish instruction but so far so good!

Are there any other bilingual kindergarten teachers using Whole Brain teaching? If so, I would like to create a dialogue and share some ideas.

Hola Saul!

While I don't teach kindergarten or Spanish, I have been using WBT for a few years now. If you have any questions or want to throw some creative ideas back and forth, I'd love to help out any way I can.

It seems like as both a beginning teacher and user of WBT, you're off to a great start! Ohhhh yeahhhh!!

¡Muchas gracias por su respuesta Kristen! Thank you for your response Kristen!

I appreciate you taking time to share and will take you up on your offer for sharing ideas. I am actually barely going to start my curriculum on Monday and have a busy weekend ahead. It is good to know you are there!
Thanks again:)

Here in Arizona we are not allowed to teach bilingually anymore. We have Structured English Immersion programs, where students are taught in English only. This has created a huge rift amongst educators in our state. However, whatever the law may be, we have a significant number of students who enroll in school with little or NO English. In the traditonal classroom setting, ELLs sit, without a lot of opportunity to practice what they are learning. Not so in a WBT classroom! WBT is fantastic for ELLs, due to the gestures, the micro-lectures, and the opportunity for repeated practice through "Teach, OK". I am excited that you have the opportunity to tap on both languages as you give your Kinders the foundation for future learning! Yippee!!!
Blessings to you as you jump into this adventure!

Hi there! We have dual immersion at our school and our teachers have adapted quite a bit for Spanish. If you'd like to email me your email address, I can hook you up with some of the teachers at our school.
