I am glad I had a healthy breakfast this morning. I needed the energy and clarity of thought it provided me. I am very comfortable teaching on the fly, but it was challenging coming up, on the spot, with gestures for least common denominator, changing fractions, reducing answers, and the many other concepts required to add fractions with unlike denominators. By breaking the skill into a four-step process, I was able to instruct using Whole Brain Teaching. The students remained enthusiastic throughout the lesson, and they displayed much more confidence than I am used to seeing when introducing this very tedious mathematical process. Next step for me: find the link on this website to download available gesture-vocabulary. Teachers were talking about the resource in the lunchroom today.

Hi there!

The gestures are in the Power Pix.
I think that most of the gestures for fifth grade can be found in the lower grade pixs.

See ya!
