Hi all,

I am from the Philadelphia, PA area. I teach in Charter High school in Northeast Philadelphia. We are a Title 1 school, and I have been trying out WBT methods this past semester with my ninth graders. (I teach 9th grade Physics First). I have definitely had some successes, but also have had some challenges. In particular, I've been having difficulty figuring out just exactly how to use the ScoreBoard to motivate whole-class behavior vs. individual students. Some of what I've read in the various online ebooks seems conflicting in this regard, and I'm hoping for some clarification. (My "good" students feel unjustly "punished" when I make "teacher" marks for the bad behavior of the few "bad apples"....) Along these lines, I'm hoping to learn more about how to better help my behaviorally-challenged students as well as how to develop student leaders....

Despite my setbacks, I figure I just need more practice, and a little help from more experienced WBT teachers. The online books on the site are terrific, but nothing beats face-to-face meetings when it comes to sharing ideas....

See you soon!
- Jen

Heading to Lousianna in 6 days, whoohoo! I teach 3rd grade at West Lane Elementary in Jackson, Missouri. I have been using WBT faithfully in my classroom for the past year, and have loved every minute of it. I'm looking for more great ideas for my big, back pocket, and can't wait to hear all the success stories from other Wibbeteers!

Thanks,

We leave for Louisiana Sunday morning! Can't wait to see everyone. I teach Title I Reading K-5 at Jackson R-2 Schools. I have been using WBT techniques the last two years and sharing it with others for the last three years. (I had 1 year out of the classroom at which time my job was to present PD to the schools in our region requesting those types of services.) I shared WBT in many of those presentations and continue to do so now that I have returned to my home district. I have 24 years in education, most of them in the first grade classroom. I look forward to seeing you again (I met you in Arizona in February, but didn't get much of a chance to talk.)

See you soon,

Leaving for Pineville on Sunday morning. I'm hoping to learn some of the finer points, network with other Wibbiteers, and have fun! I teach 4th grade in Texas and even though I feel like I really only dipped my toes in the water, I had tremendous success on TAKS this year.

I'll be there. However the link that was sent to download the materials doesn't work. I get an error message. If someone has them I would appreciate some help getting them.

I got the downloads...but after looking at them, I noticed that pages 1-17 (or thereabouts) are the same for each day. Do I really need to print out 3 sets? Or could I use the same beginning pages for each day and just print out pages 17+ for Day 2,3, and 4?

I tried sending a message that I will be uanable to attend the conference. I registered and I wanted to open the spot if it was needed. The e-mail was returned to me. I am so disappointed that I won't be able to attend.

Hi Andrea! I teach special Ed. - K-5. I do pullout to the resource room. I'm looking forward to using several of these techniques with my kids. I can picture them doing the super speed words and super speed math. This may be the path to success I've been looking for.

I just got home a little while ago from the conference. It was amazing. I can't wait to use the writing tools to teach my kinders and 1st graders how to write.

Thanks for an amazing conference! I love the Sentence ladder. This is truly going to make my students better writers! I also can't wait to try out SuperSpeed Spelling. No matter how many conferences I attend, I always come away with a clarification on something or more great ideas to take back and use in my classroom. The 2011-2012 school year is going to be awesome!

@ Angel eyes~

Please be sure to keep us posted on your year and any "tweaks" you need for SpecEd. That's the kind of stuff we'd love ot hear about!!!!

Re: Louisiana, anyone? 11 months ago #6219

Thanks Andrea. I've already been sharing with a friend who was unable to attend the conference. I couldn't keep my hands still. The gesturing is contagious! She borrowed my handouts and notes to read and when she gets back from her trip we'll go over them together. I can hardly wait for school!!! I'll keep you posted.
