My school district adopted enVision Math this year as well and we just received our materials. So, we are just beginning the new program and are feeling out of sorts as well. My fifth grade team decided we were going to do our best to follow the program as it is laid out and incorporate WBT as much as possible. We are finding that we just do not have enough time to get everything in during our math time which is 75 minutes. After our reading block we have another 20 minutes that we are using as our intervention time. We also decided to use the games during intervention time, as well as, two days before the test we use the games at stations to review the concepts again. WBT seems to working well during the interactive video segment, where you can use the teach-okay. Last week, we were learning the properties of multiplication and my students came up with gestures to go with the properties. I believe that as the year goes on, our kids will understand the progression of the lessons and we will be able to incorporate more WBT strategies during math time. The 5 step lesson format yes-no way and QT are great to check for comprehension on the concepts during guided practice. This year will be a learning year for the new program and how to blend WBT effectively during the lessons.
