This week, we are reading "In the Days of King Adobe" a trickster folktale. What a great story for me to model gesturing with reading a story and being a little dramatic. We read on the carpet today, and most of my students didn't follow along because they were watching me and were REALLY involved in the story. I did meaningful gestures throughout and they really liked that. I noticed some even mirroring me without being prompted. Now, I didn't tell them anything about the crazy professor yet, they don't know what's coming, but they'll find out within a couple of weeks that they actually got a sneak peek of that today when they get to try for the first time. Who knows, maybe I'll let them practice with this story at the end of the week. It really is a great one to learn how and is pretty simple. Definitley had great comprehension of the story when we were done as well.
