Hello All!

I was wondering if any of you are in schools where multiple teachers are using WBT?
If so, do the kids still stay excited with the procedures?

Just Curious,

Thanks,

Yes! From teachers at different grade levels to instructional aides, the consistency of using the 5 rules creates a great environment for everyone. Love WBT!

As the year has gone on, Susan and I have gotten several teachers on board at our school. I have found that in the classrooms that are using the 5 classroom rules and the scoreboard, momentum and behavior is much better. Our classrooms seem to be more consistent with our rules than in other classes. We presented at one of our PD days, which got several teachers in our building excited about WBT. I've even had several teachers come and observe in my classroom. Since seeing it action in the classroom, they've gone back to their rooms to implement parts of WBT and have reported back to me that it has made a huge difference. I hope this answers your question!

Thanks,
Staci

Jason,
I've been sharing the news about WBT for the last 3 years. I teach Title I Reading and travel between buildings. (I've been doing that for the last 2 years. The year before that my job was to give PD to schools in Southeast Missouri.) In my current position I have watched as more and more teachers try at least parts of WBT. As teachers start to experience success with WBT more teachers want to try it. Staci Glass and I gave a presentation to our faculty this year after we had attended the conference in Arizona. Following that presentation, there was a huge amount of interest in WBT. Many teachers began to try it out in our building. The students responded very well to it. I think one of the best things I've heard was from a fourth grade teacher in our building. After finishing the MAP test, she commented on how well her students knew certain skills because of the Power Pix and gestures. She said she watched as kids would read a question, do a gesture, then answer the question. I also heard teachers say that this was the first year that they had not had students crying during the Map testing. They thought that WBT had a lot to do with that.
In the other building that I work with, all the teachers but one, and the literacy aides, have signed up to attend the WBT conference in West Plains, MO this summer. (The one that didn't sign up already had vacation plans set for that week.) That building is planning on implementing WBT school wide with the 2011-12 school year. It has been my experience that the more the students are exposed to WBT, the better they do both academically and behaviorally.

That is absolutely awesome. I am trying to do the same thing in my school. Together WBT teachers can change education in the world.
