I'd love to know what anyone would think about us setting up a Facebook page for Whole Brain Teaching ... and/or should we get involved in Twittering? Give us some advice!

I am all over the Facebook page... I think it is my other favorite website (since of course this is my first...) I'd be happy to set up Facebook - but I don't know much about twitter.

I've been curious about Twitter anyways...so I'd love to look into that aspect of it. I'll give you an update soon!

There actually is already a group on facebook called "Whole Brain Teaching is awesome". I am not sure who runs it, but it has videos and Chris's picture as the profile picture. Here is the URL www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/group.php?gid=45806038957

Also, I found another facebook group called "we love Power Teaching" and all the members are students from a high school in CA. What I can't figure out is if they are being facetious or serious. Some of the students have written on the wall and given links to the actual PT website. The titles of their blog entries are things about how it is rigged and they reference how the scoreboard should never have a difference of + or - 3 points.

I actually tried to find the teacher (unsuccessfully) to find out if chaos ensued once they had figured out the system. I plan on using WBT next year in high school and have pretty much decided not to tell the students the name "Power Teaching" so they can't look it up on me. What are some thoughts on that? Has anyone else had a problem with the kids figuring out how the system works? I just noticed that you are a member on it Mr. Biffle. So what do you think is the deal with it?

I would be VERY interested to know the answer too. From the get go, I have quietly worried about what would happen if the students worked out the "system." I have never called it Whole Brain Teaching to the kids, so if they were that motivated to search the Internet, they would be hard pushed to find it. So, aside from this instance of the Facebook page, has anyone experienced a class who has uncovered The Secret, and if so, what happened....?

Jeff Battle and I are the admins on the Facebook page that Chris Biffle and I created.. It is not a group page - it is a fan page where we add events, and there is a space for comments, but there are no videos.

Please become our facebook fan - it is a great way to spread the word to others!

As for those sneaky teenagers that think they have me figured out - I switch it up! There are somedays that I don't care if everyone gets the same score, so I follow the
+/- 3 rule, but I let the scores vary a little. The incentives I use on those days are extra credit on tests, group/individual quiz, free time. I know ahead of time wether a class will win or lose - so I am constantly in control of the scoreboard - but I am not strict about the same outcome happening in every class.

My students watched the videos a looong time ago and thought they would "catch" me in my own game, I just explained that it is just a suggested way to manage things, I manipulate the scoreboard differently and that they would never be able to figure me out.

Still trying to figure out why it does this with Twitter....you can search for someone and not find them! I couldn't find Biff or my husband when I first joined, even though they were in there.

The Whole Brain Teaching Twitter is wholebrainteaching. Right now Biff uses his own Twitter to post about Whoel Brain Teaching, so not alot is posted on the wholebrainteaching twitter, but we'll get it smoothed out.
