I remembered right in time the definition of theme :"the huge essential meaning explained"

and now I have developed a great way to explain "thesis" to my 10th grade students:

the thesis is the "GPS" to your five paragraph essay---that is THESIS "drives" your paper

it Gives the Paper's Strategy

it Gives the Paragraphs Structure

it is the Great Point(s)Stated

and just like the GPS when you come to the conclusion you would return to the starting point to (reverse directions) restate your points

My students LOVED this analogy and it made them SMILE with enthusiasm for a task that is required writing
