I work with 50 students at one time ...another teacher and I team teach. I have been using the WBT model for about a month or so. I have moved up to level 2 in my scoreboard game. I sometimes feel a little overwhelmed with giving practice cards and filling out practice forms to be taken home. Anyone have any suggestions on how I could mangage this more effectively. Also, how do you keep your practice cards seperated, so they are easy to get to.

You have done a lot in a short time and 50 students definitely present a challenge. Try to get the students to self-manage the practice and the cards. Take some time to practice the procedures with the whole class...One of my favorite things about WBT is that it empowers students to take responsibility for their behavior. Students should fill out their own practice forms. I had them do it during "pack up time" or before they go out to recess.

I had all the practice cards on two-sided paper in sheet protectors. The students would practice for all the rules if they violate rules 4 or 5, or the specific rule for 1 - 3. They used white board markers and erased the sheets after I checked them.

If you find that you are passing out a lot of practice cards every day, it is probably time to do some more whole-class practice.

Let us know how you are doing.

I am really hesitant to introduce practice cards. I don't want to use space for a pocket chart when I really only have 2-3 kids (on occasion) that fail to follow the rules. Should I just do it anyway to move through all of the stages so that I can say that I have done it?? What is the best way to set up the practice cards? Thanks!

I never did use practice cards we got started and I only had two or three who really needed them so one day lasted that long. I used the score board the whole year!!!! My little trouble group,Became I dependants and 2 of them decided they did not like that one bit and asked to come back and promised to follow the rules which they didid. I just handed out practice tickets with the rules, they spent lunch and recess p. racticing them and that solved it. They took practice tickets home too. We really worked at the scoreboard, now that said I met tomorrow my new group I have 3 boys I've had before so maybe they will help.
