What other ways do you have your students say "Class/Yes"? As we get closer to the end of the year, I find that they're getting bored. I wanted to energize them by switching up my call and their response. Any ideas?

Have you tried the duck call yet? You can use the duck call (or maybe a kazoo...) to mimic the sing-song sound of "Claaaa-aaass!" or any other way you want to call it, and they have to respond by mimicking your style. Biff does it at conferences, it's quite silly.

I am at an inner-city school in Denver and I infuse music and culture as much as possible into WBT. The favorite variation of Class/Yes for my students is "Hey/Ho". So I will say "Hey" and they will say "Ho" and all eyes will come to me. Sometimes we even wave our hands back and forth!

That's fun! I know a teacher that connects it to class material, like they say a state and the kids have to respond with the capital, or he says "5 tribes!" and the kids respond with the 5 native tribes of Utah in a fun, sing-song rhythm. You can do it with math facts, etc... too!

These are great ideas and whatever we do decide to use we want to mix it up. If kids get used to certain habits and procedures they will not be as engaged. We need to change it up or else they will lose the energy.
