So often colleges and universities stress the important pedagogy of teaching. And rightfully so. But what they often leave out are the classroom management techniques that allow you to utilize that pedagogy to teach your students. Without sound management techniques you can't hope to survive in the classroom.

As an administrator the first thing I want to see happening in a new teacher's classroom, or a veteran teacher for that matter, is positive, effective management of student behavior. WBT will provide this for you! 9 years into my teaching career...and ironically enough my final year in the classroom, I saw the light! I even implemented WBT in the middle of the year after I had already establish other rules and consequences. It still worked! Why? Because students love earning small rewards and as the teacher you don't mind giving them to them when they perform for you. Critics will tell you that this is extrinsic motivation. I find that amusing because that's what I call a salary in the real world!

Want to get through to your kids...even the toughest ones. Then utilize the management techniques in WBT. They'll be eating out of your hand and you'll be able to teach.

You are so right! Most classroom management issues manifest from a lack of student engagement...as well as teacher engagement. WBT is student/teacher engagement at its finest. For me the behavior issues went down even before the introduction of the scoreboard. The class/yes and the teach/okay alone will have an immediate impact.
