This week I had arranged to our local firefighters to come to our campus and share with our first grade students. Picture this...78 students sitting outside under a ramada, waiting to see that big, red shiny fire engine up close and personal. We did a few warm ups, with gestures, then it was the firefighter's turn. He was fantastic, but as we all know, little ones lose their focus very fast. He was trying to get their attention, and they began shouting out, talking at once, etc. All of our first grades use WBT, so I suggested to the firefighter that he try, "Class". They all shouted, "Yes!" and looked right at him!!! All 4 firefighters said, "Wow! That is some hot stuff!" As they showed their equipment, the truck, and safety procedures, they kept bringing the students back with "Class"! I was so proud of our students, and the firefighters reported that they had NEVER experienced response and focus like that!! Today I received a thank you from them!!! WBT is sizzling hot!!!

LOL...That's great Deb. WBT is sizzling hot! If there is one thing that the teachers from my school have taken with them from whole brain teaching is "CLASS/YES!" because of the wonderful and immediate responses. Last week, as I walked down our hallway I heard 3 different classes responding to class/yes. I always keep the teachers aware that there is so much more to WBT than class/yes and they immediately want me to tell them more, or they want to look up more because THEY KNOW IT WORKS!! Better yet, ANYONE can do it...including the sizzling hot firemen!

This is what is so great about WBT teaching, anyone can use it!!! At our school assemblies our principal has used class/yes to get a response from the students. Sure enough it can get an entire campus responding back and focused. It is amazing the way the students hear class, and know they need to say yes! I have had guest helpers and substitutes tell me how great they thought class/yes was. They had never heard of it and loved how the students responded so quickly!!!

I took 114 8th graders to see a movie and they are talking being typical 8th graders when the theater manager comes in to talk to them with a microphone to tell them about their general stuff and I told him wait. I said "Class" they all said "Yes" and I was able to go over all the things that he wanted to tell them with out a microphone. He was unquestionably shocked.
