TOPIC: Prevalence of Interactive Workbooks in WBT

Prevalence of Interactive Workbooks in WBT 3 years, 3 months ago #44

Hey, CB, here. I was just curious, regarding any teacher - besides Professor Biffle, of course! - who makes it a point to incorporate textbooks with large margins, and requirements surrounding annotation and completion of work inside of this textbook, into their class coursework. So far, I, and many other of Biffle's students who use the "Landscape of Wisdom" textbook, have found it to be - while quite the monster in terms of time and logistics to annotate fully! - an invaluable resource in helping to understand difficult philosophical problems, such as the meaning of the "Holy" according to Socrates, and the metaphysical purview of Existentialism under Sartre.

Of course, I realize that many courses employing Whole Brain Teaching won't be Philosophy classes, but, of course, that doesn't mean that the problems they grapple with would be any less well-served by textbooks that encourage students to really get into and mark up the material. So, from a show of hands: How many of you have taken the Biffle route of encouraging turning one's ho-hum gotta-have-them class textbooks into vast fields of learning, in and of themselves? And for those that haven't: Do you think you'd like to give it a try? Looking forward to hearing from you,
