I recently watched the WBT: 1st Grade Transitions video on youtube with Deb Weigel. (It's excellent, by the way: www.youtube.com/chrisbiffle#p/u/0/CP-P9Lq68Ac)

I mentioned to my 2nd graders that I saw a video of a class that did things like us and it gave me some new ideas. Well, then my class said they wanted to see it and one little boy asked me everyday for a week! So we finally watched it together yesterday.

My class seemed to be in awe that another class was similar to us. It was so cute. They were watching the video wide eyed and kept looking at me as if to say "Other people do class-yes, and oh yeah!?" They were surprised to hear some of the same class rules but in a different order than we do them. Needless to say, they really enjoyed it and then we had a discussion about ideas we saw on the video that we would like to add to our classroom! Our discussion ended with one boy saying, "Hey! Can we make a whole brain teaching video?"

I never thought of showing the videos to the class, but it was a really positive experience!

Even better would be to watch Deb Weigel's current, ground breaking, video posted on the same channel, www.youtube.com/user/ChrisBiffle?feature=mhsn

"1st Grader Leads Lesson on Brain Structure"

This video might motivate kids (at any grade level) to create educational wonders.

You're heading exactly in the direction of one of our highest WBT dreams, teachers would show our videos to their classes and inspire them to make their own videos ... to inspire students around the world. Oh, please make it happen!

Thanks. We will definitely watch the brain one too! One student noticed the other videos to the side and also wanted to watch the WBT in highschool video.

Actually, at the beginning of the school year we made a video of our class rules and uploaded it to our website. It was great because the parents could understand what was going on once they started getting practice cards. We recently had a new student join us and he got to watch it at home before he even came to class.

You know, (since I am experiencing a slightly rough patch after Christmas break) the idea of a future video could definitely motivate the class to brush up on their procedures!
