TOPIC: Scoreboard and testing time?

Scoreboard and testing time? 11 months, 3 weeks ago #5895

Here is the situation. The class next to us (we are an old model of "open classrooms") is testing. We are a K-1 and are not. The situation is it makes the scoreboard confusing. My class is not used to being quiet, sitting still and not giving "Oh yeah" and "groans" for long periods of time. what's a teacher to do?

Any hints, wibiteers?

Annette:(

The Silent WOW cheer is for you. Act as though you are clapping but without actually touching hands, hold up the first three fingers on each hand on either side of your mouth. Open your mouth really wide, it is the "O" in the wow.

For the groans use the falling O's. Hold up your hand with the fingers cupped like an o. Start with one over your head, and then trail "o's" down in front of you, alternating hands three or four times.

Are you able to reward them with taking them outside for an extra recess if they win the scoreboard (with the silent WOW and O) to let them be loud outside?

Keep us updated.

Yes, Megan we did the outside recess just this Friday. I could see my little ones were getting worn out with they "We have to be quiet" one more time. It worked very well and we did our OH YEAH AND RAISE ME outside where we could celebrate our quietness. I also did the teacher talk, that our quiet time was practice, practice, practice for when it will be there turn.

Annette - thank you for all the suggestions
