Seeking HELP! I'm getting a smartboard! Any tips utilizing it with WBT concepts/lessons?

Hi Karen,

I got a smart board last year. You're going to love it. This year I am going to put my power pics on it in power point. That way, they will be larger for the students to see. Following each power pic, I can use a blank page to write any examples we might come up with. This can be saved and pulled up later for quick review. Another point I plan to try is by putting up super speed words as individual slides for oral reading practice as a group.

Last year, I used the soccer field background for mind soccer. I was able to import a soccer ball that was able to move around the field with my pen. The kids loved it!

What grade do you teach? I have 3/4 learning support. I am hoping to use the board in more creative ways this year. Let me know if you have any more questions. Good luck with the new year!

Thanks for the great ideas! As soon as I get some training I will definitely take your advice regarding the power pix/power point and super speed. I'm sure I'll have MORE questions...thanks for your support. Will you also be posting the power pix on a bulletin board? I teach 2nd grade and started using WBT last year. I LOVE it (and so did my students)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes Karen,

I have my Power Pic up on bulletin boards. I will try to get up as many as I can. When I run out of room, I will slower take the ones down that we practiced the most and store them in a binder. I will practice those ones with the class using my Smartboard. Since I have instructional support aids in my room, they can use the binders at any time to review with students.
