I was wondering how everyone keeps students organized. I will be teaching fourth gradee and i'm torn between notebooks, folders, and binders. I was thinking folders for each subject and then a home folder. What do you think works best for WBT style? Thanks for your help.

Hi, I teach ESE Emotionally Disabled Language Arts 3rd to 5th, and I have been giving a lot of thought to this. In the manuals it recommends student folders, so all the records, like for the super speed games can be kept. I think I am going to use a 3 ring binder with divided sections that can be used as a student portfolio for best work, three star homework, and such. I plan on keeping the super speed games right on the top, so there are no flipping around to look for them.

Let me know what you end up doing.

I teach 5th grade and this was a concern for me last year as well. I ended up having spiral bound notebooks for writing, a manilla folder that contained all of their super speed games & record log, and another folder that went home with homework papers in it.

Let me know what you decide, I love hearing new organizational ideas!

Hi Tammy. I teach 3rd and 4th grade learning support. I have been using binders for years for classroom management. The kids are in and out of my room so I found this to be the easiest method. When I started using whole brain last year, I put the super speeds right into it in sections. I will also include The Crazy Professor game and a Smoothy Bumper Planet Chart this year as well. The binder does not leave my room. They do have homework folders that they take back and forth with them. Let me know how it works for you.

Do you think for first grade a simple star chart for super speed improvent and super speed charts in a two pocket folder is manageable. I just hate it when I do something ahead of time to find it does not work ot like my brain planned.

Annette,

I used used a 3 ring binder for the super speed games and the star chart for the improvement record with my K-3 grade groups last year. That worked great for me, but I only deal with reading and Com Arts. I think your plan will work fine for first graders. The easier the better.
