I tried doing Prove It to replace our usual standardized test question review sessions, and my students actually said, "Can we just do the questions without playing that game?" Suuuuure.
Weirdos.
They love everything else, but they just didn't buy in to that one. I was kinda disappointed. I wanted to play the game.

A tweak I am working on with older learners I borrowed from Eric Mazur, a well known Harvard physics professor. Show the kids a PowerPoint slide or some such with a question, and three possible answers. Have the kids discuss which answer or answers are correct and have them prove their answer(s) to their partners. Check and see is both partners agree, or if one partner was able to convince the other partner or not. Check for understanding, and reveal the correct answer or answers.
So far it is working well, and drawing in the few kids who were reluctant initially with Prove it!
