TOPIC: Classroom Posters

Classroom Posters 3 years ago #922

In the past I have recruited especially talented student artists to make classroom posters for me. As a High School teacher, I find many educational posters aimed at younger students, which my students find "babyish." So, when one particularly talented student produced the Blooms Taxonomy for me in a "funky fresh style" the kids ooohed and aaahed over it. GREAT segue into discussing levels of thinking...

I will be "commissioning" new posters soon. One saying, "If you can teach it, you REALLY KNOW it!" and the other about retaining information. So, here's my question. I remember (only vaguely-oh the irony!) the stats. I think, 5% remembered from what you hear, ?% from what you ?% from etc. Can anyone give me the stats and research source?

Thank you!!!

Here you go:

How We Learn

10% of what we READ

20% of what we HEAR

30% of what we SEE

50% of what we SEE and HEAR

70% of what is DISCUSSED with OTHERS

80% of what is EXPERIENCED PERSONALLY

95% of what we TEACH TO SOMEONE ELSE
