I was in a conversation with my Superintendent and she loves WBT - the one thing she feels in missing is opportunity for students to take initiative - in other words - inquiry based learning - does anyone have any ideas on how WBT could incorporate inquiry based learning into its set up OR is it already there?

Liann:
Inquiry based learning is remarkably simple to introduce into WBT. Simply pose a question to your students and let them solve it together. For example, you might ask, "What are the similarities and differences between these two characters?" or "What are the smart and foolish choices that characters make in this story?" or "How could you prove that the answer to this math word problem is correct?" Take any inquiry based learning task, change it into a question, and encourage your students to solve it ... they will work much better in teams because they have had so much team experience during the Teach-Okay portions of your lessons. Also, of course, this kind of inquiry based learning will be powerfully amplified if you encourage your students to use Brain Toys in their explanation.

But most importantly! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PUBLICATION IN CANADA TEACHER ABOUT WBT!!!! Yes. You get it. The long awaited, seldom awarded. TEN FINGER ROLLING WOO WITH THE GRAND SALAMI!
