Greetings! My name is Kevin, and I teach 5th grade in Lakeland, Florida. I've got a class of 18 kids, four of whom are challenging, and one who speaks very little English (but is a great kid who tries hard and wants to succeed).

Funny story: I actually found Whole Brain Teaching because I googled the phrase, "I don't want to be a teacher any more." I don't know why Whole Teaching would have come up for that, but it did. Call it divine intervention.

The ebooks are great, the videos are wonderful, and reading the forums has given me more great ideas just this morning that I have had/heard in the past year.

I am so stoked to have found Whole Brain Teaching!

Hey Kevin!! I am in the same boat as you. I found WBT through Google when I searched "teaching rules" because I couldn't bring myself to think about teaching those boring old library rules another year. I felt I lost my teaching mojo and now I'm excited about next year.

How did your kids respond to WBT? How many of the components are you using?

Welcome to Whole Brain Teaching! WBT has definitely inspired me. I have been using it in my high school math class for the past year. I'm not sure how much you know about WBT... but my favorite parts are the "Class-Yes," "Teach-Okay," and the use of "Gestures." I think you will especially like the scoreboard game and the Super Speed reading game... make sure to check those out. Please keep posting on the forum. When you have questions, I think you will find people on this forum to be very helpful. If you ever get the chance to go to a WBT conference, you will be AMAZED how much you learn in such a short amount of time. I have been to many conferences in my 10 year teaching career and none of them compare to the WBT conferences.
