WoW!!!! What else can I say! I am a Troops to Teachers participant who recently changed careers. I went from a full time position to part time position with a medical company in order to become a part time teacher's aide. I was able to find a position where I taught computers (my former career). I will begin next year with only four summer courses in SPED and have been attempting to train myself classroom management.

Over the last few days I have studied everything I could find about Power Teaching. Today I implemented Class-yes, hands and eyes, 5 rules, teach-ok, and scoreboard. WOW what a tremendous program. I had 45 minutes with a 5th grade class, by the end they were correcting themselves on many infractions. I did as the program suggested and let the "frownies" win the first day. I expect a backlash, but instead I heard a lot of "we can do better tomorrow".

I will update this thread as we finish out the year (3 weeks to go). Thanks again!

As you move along remember to keep the way you use class/yes and teach/ok fresh. Use different volumes of your voice or cadances to keep the students on their toes. I think that you'll find that this will help keep your students into what you're doing.
