I was wondering - has anyone used WBT in homeroom? I have HR duty and would like to set the tone quickly that this is meant to be a quiet working time, not a free-for-all with students up out of their seats as they please, etc.

I'm thinking of using the students/teacher scoreboard with the "reward" being 3 minutes of quiet talking time, of course not letting them win the first day.

Further complication with this is that most other teachers have homeroom with "their kids" whom they teach later in the day. I will see some of my HR kids again later, others I won't.

Any suggestions/ideas would be welcome.

I think teacher vs students scoreboard would work well ... but make things simpler ... students will get one minute of free time for talking for each mark they win by ... and point out honestly that it will be difficult to win because you would rather see students working than talking ... and also point out that the difference between the points will rarely if ever be greater than 3 ... when students are "winning" you will be looking for the smallest infraction ... when you are winning by 2 or 3, you will be looking for even a few students doing well ... also, throw in variety ... one day play just for "staying in your seat" ... etc.
