As many others doing WBT can attest, I am the only one in my building as far as I know...who jumped in with both feet at the beginning of the year to "try" WBT.
WBT made teaching fresh and alive again for me! My students loved it, and were an immediate success at learning the rules, class/yes, good morning routine, gestures, teach/ok, and scoreboard. I am already planning for next year!
Things I found important to remember:

Introduce each new concept one at a time.
Don't try to do it all in two weeks!
DO get started on the first day teaching concepts such as class/yes and hands and eyes.
Be consistent using the scoreboard.
Use WBT games more!
Model, model, model, all year long!

I can't wait to begin next year with the confidence of having a first year behind me!

Happy Summer,
Maggie

Maggie,

Oh how I feel ya!!! Truck Driver Cheer to you "Do Do Do Do...Way to go good buddy!"

I too am the only teacher that jumped in with both feet. With much resistance as well...but the proof is in the pudding....end of the year test scores higher than the past four years!

I agree with everything you said about things to remember! Next year will be great and I am already planning too!

Happy Summer and see you all in Louisiana!!!!

Hey Farrah! Did you copy and laminate enough games for 12 pairs of kids? I am thinking they could use a dry erase marker to circle the number they land on, then erase all after their scores are recorded. I have read the Super Speed Numbers eBook, but need more information. I am hoping they can do this in first grade with their new teacher too! So glad you posted about this game. My kids love counting to 100. We use the Harry Kindergarten youtube video every day too!
