I attended the WBT Conference in Missouri this past Monday and Tuesday, and having used the Super Speed games, I am wondering why a Super Speed Shapes game for kindergarten wouldn't work? My kids get hung up on some of the shape names each year...most usually, "rectangle", and "sphere". Is there a SS Shapes game yet? I know Biff has lots of free time, not. Just wanted to give him a little something to smoke in his pipe. :o) Thanks for a terrific two days! I got lots of new ideas, and am even more certain of the power of WBT!

Shame on you for thinking that I'm not 10 miles ahead on this one. Look at the Kindergarten Power Pix, under "Downloads", above for a complete list with a picture, gesture, and teaching suggestion for 70 kindergarten state standards (including square, rectangle, sphere, triangle, etc.) ... and then go on to the 200+ state standards pictures for 2nd-3rd grade. However, I do forgive you ... only because you were part of the incredible, high energy crowd at West Plains. Good thing they put us in the steel roofed, storm shelter!!

Sweet! I might be able to bring that into my Kindergarten Art Classes.

Hey! Another solution and quick review for shapes I tried last year was to incorporate the shapes into my class! yes! I used this last year with the solid shapes, as it seemed that my students would remember the solid shapes when I taught the unit and then would forget when the end of the year came (we teach solid shapes at the beginning of the year). So it went like this:

My solid shapes were different colors. So I would say the color, they would turn, look at me, and say the shape. This worked really good during the "TEach! Okay!" because it required that the students turn and look at me in order to see the shape. For example, I would say: "REd!" and they would say "Sphere!" and I would say "REd, red red!" and they would say "Sphere, sphere, sphere"! I'm really excited to start off the year with this strategy because I can use it to review anything, letters, numbers, etc.

May i say.....WBT rocks!!!
