I am wondering how everyone is incorporating your usual 'reward' systems(sticker charts and treasure box) or are you totally getting rid of them and just using the 'scoreboard' system instead?

I am wondering the same thing. I'm also wondering what other rewards are being used for the scoreboard. Our recess time is sandwiched between other grade levels and no time is available for extra recess. Is someone using other rewards that may work for me also? I'm hoping to start implementing WBT when school starts, but I have many questions as I'm thinking through how I will make it work in my classroom. I'm anxious to hear others' suggestions who are more experienced using WBT. Thanks!

I'm not an experienced user yet. I plan on learing as I go along. Since I'm new at all this, I'm going to try everything just the way it was presented and change things as I go along to make it more functional for my class. I haven't used treasure boxes in the past. I found early in my teaching career that it can get expensive and the kids enjoy other, free rewards just as much. Some of these include extra recess, games, time in the computer lab, reduced homework, show and tell, time to talk with their friends, reading outside or to another class, etc. Hope this is helpful. Good Luck!

Last year in the winter I used the scoreboard. My students loved it when I put "blanks" on the chalkboard, either a phrase, or a word. At the end of the day, I filled the letters on the "blank" using the smilies tally marks. Sometimes it took more than one day to get the treat or reward. I used extra recess, a fun "game" on the computer,or .a new dvd that worked with the curriculum we were learning. Towards the end of the school year, we decided that we used 3 smilies equaled 1 letter. The children loved this!
