I teach Title I Reading and just attended the WBT/Critical Thinking workshop in Mesa, Az with Chris Biffle. I came away from that conference with so many great WBT strategies for teaching comprehension. The Power Pix for Com. Arts K-3 are awesome. I had been using them with my kindergarteners and will be starting them with 1st-3rd as soon as I can get them downloaded. The "Brain Toys" are also great. I know the students will love those. I hope to get started next week with these new strategies (we are doing whole school assessments this week). I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

I just finished up with my small guided reading groups, and used the two finger action figures on Armworld to retell what we read of Johnny Appleseed. Johnny is quite an action hero in the eyes of a small group of boys. They also found it very amusing as I modeled with my own two finger action figure! I told them that we would be working with our action figure more this week, and they were all very excited! I'm curious to see how well they remember what they read tomorrow when I meet with them again. I'll keep you updated!

I just met with my third graders this morning. (I have a group of 5.) I had not met with them since last Thursday. They were able to retell the first two chapters from the book we started last week using "deskworld with two finger action figures" today. They were very excited to read the next chapter so they could get to the retelling part. I am loving this!!!

Loving 2 finger action figures! I wasn't here yesterday due to a PBIS meeting, so today I came back and met with my groups! They were able to retell me the chapter they read yesterday with my sub using their 2 finger action figures. Awesome!
