I heard about Whole Brain Teaching from two of my colleagues and have been able to attend a six week training by Chris Biffle himself! This program has been a life-saver in the classroom. It has brought back the joy of teaching for me and helped me to engage my students more during lessons. I have found that the students mirror me in class even if I haven't asked them to do it. They love the Switch and doing the gesture with it.

A colleague and I were giving the state p.e. test and I made a mistake and the other teacher, who introduced me to the program, told the students to tell me "It's cool!" They caught on to it and it has stuck with us. Today one of the students was having difficulty working at the SmartBoard and I told the class to tell her "It's cool!" and the student felt relieved. It was great to see.

I have yet to get the cards made for students who continue to break the class rules, but for the time being have had just a few students take two minutes to practice the rules and have found it to be quite effective.

For me the challenge is going to be to focus on the positive and not the negative - training students, not scolding them.

Thanks for this program!

Keep coming back to this forum and others will help you also. There is no need to be on an island. That is the whole point to this program...teachers helping teachers.

We are glad that you have had some success, keep it up for next year and you to can find a small piecs of what we like to call, "Teahcing Heaven".

Power to the Teacher!
