Hello All
I am about to embark on my second year teaching middle school in a challenging environment. I am going to implement WBT.
Last year I used a "Consequence Ladder" to address rules violations. This year, I will use the scoreboard and have students repeat a rule when it is broken to encourage positive solidarity in the class. However, I also plan on continuing with my Consequence Ladder.
Here's an example. A student talks out of turn. I say "Rule 2!" The class follows the procedure. I give them a point on the scoreboard. However, I also give the violator a consequence (which is private / post-class) as a further deterrent. There is no scolding, but it is understood that violators receive a personal consequence in addition to the WBT procedure.
any thoughts?
Thank you!
