I am so excited! I am collecting permission slips from my students so we can video our class using WBT! As long as nothing goes wrong with our end of grade testing, we will be doing this Friday and I can put it on You-tube. My kids are very excited as well - they love showing what they know! I am keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well Friday and will let you know if you can check out the class on You-tube!

Joy, I am excited to hear how things go when you video tape. We are doing our tape at the end of the year as a culmination of whole brain teaching. We get out of school in July. Please share.

My videotape was finally completed and can be seen on You-tube. Please go to Whole Brain Teaching with Mrs. Button(2).wmv

When I compared mine to others, my pace seems too slow. Something to work on next year! So much you can learn by watching yourself!

Joy....

It is so good to see you growing with your WBT teaching....we met last summer at the National Conference in Louisiana....I definitely agree that the videotaping is a great self-reflection for your students, as well as, for the teacher! I learned so much through my internship last school year and I know that you will this year with your internship! Although things start slowly in the beginning, before you know it, your pace will pick up and everything seems to fall in place! Way to go!

Joy, Congratulations on your first video! I can appreciate the effort it took to complete it, from gathering permission slips to finally editing! Your willingness to share with your peers is another one of the wonderful reasons why WBT educators are the best!! Oh, yeah!

Hi Joy! Thanks so much for sharing your video. Isn't it amazing what we learn when we watch ourselves on video? I personally think it is the best form of self-reflection and evaluation. You mentioned your pacing so I wanted to share with you what worked for me. When I made my first videos, Coach also recommended that I pick up the pace a bit. I wasn't getting across to my kids what I wanted from them so I showed them 2 videos from You Tube. One video was Farrah Shipley's One Less than Rule with Kindergartners and the other was Coach B's video from Bedford-Stuyvesant on the Genius Ladder. This last video was with 4th graders. I wanted my kids to look at how much energy the kids in the video had. After showing those videos, there was no way my 3rd graders wanted to be "left in the dust"! They suddenly had a renewed energy that just amazed me.

I chose those 2 videos because they demonstrated what I needed for my kids. Every time someone in the video did something I wanted from my kids, I commented on it. So as I worked on my pacing, so did my kids. This is just food for thought but hope it helps.

Joy, you are a great example of a WBT educator! Completing a video and putting it out there for comment takes effort and a willingness to learn! You did both! Oh, yeah!!
