I have to just rave about this amazing creature called Smoothy Bumper Planet! Using this amazing teaching tool my class can now count by 1's, 5's, 10's, and 2's! and they learned with such ease! We have begun learning about place value adding hundreds to our tens and ones! They love playing and love the colorful chart! This is a definite must have for any lower level elementary classroom!

I am so glad to hear this. I teach reading, but have become the WBT resource person for one of our elementary buildings. I just opened Smoothy Bumper Planet for the first time. The first grade teacher in me (I taught 1st grade for 14 years) thought "WOW! I wish I would have had this then!!" So, I copied it for the teachers in one of my buildings (K-3). I can't wait to see how it works for them.

Farah and Floyd,

I just started with smoothy and bumper, besides the manual any insights. Any suggestions on using it with the whole class since we are moving up to 30 or more students next year with all the budget coming at us?

Thanks

Annette,

I think the joy of this tool is it can be used in a group that size. I might pair them off so you have 15 groups of two and then have them take turns...I do this even with my smaller class because then each group has a "coach". This means less students that I actually have to be watching to see if they are doing it. And the coaches are learning by watching and they feel kinda important.
