TOPIC: 3rd Grade Math Power Pixs

3rd Grade Math Power Pixs 05 Jan 2011 19:53 #4524

Hi,

I've tried to download the 3rd Grade Math Power Pixs three times, but each time after the download is complete and I try to open the file, I get a message from Adobe telling me that the file is corrupt and cannot be opened. Is anyone else having this problem? Help? Many thanks,

Christopher

I had some trouble yesterday trying to download 3rd Grade Math and Communication Arts PowerPix. It said something about my server, so I e-mailed Chris Rekstad because that's what the site told me to do. It said that the file was empty. I don't know if this could be part of the problem that you may be having as well or not. I haven't received a response yet, but when I do, I would be happy to share what I find out.

I had a little trouble before our Christmas break as well. It would work at times, but not all the time. I would only print off the Power Pix I needed for that particular week instead of the entire ebook at once and now I wish I would've just printed them all off.

I know this isn't much help, but hopefully I'll get a response soon, and we'll be able to access them! Good luck and let me know if you find anything out as well!

I got on the Whole Brain Teaching site this morning and thought I would check on the PowerPix, and I was able to pull up both math and comm. arts. Yippee! You may want to log in and see if it will now work for you! I printed off the ones I need for next week and a couple of weeks in advance! I was so excited! Good luck!

It is also a good idea to look at the grade above and below the one you teach for power pix (if you teach K-3 because there aren't any for 4-6). I have found that this is helping with REVIEW and PREVIEW with material! Also, making our own power pix as a class has been powerful because the students make it "theirs".

We haven't come up with our own PowerPix, but that is a great idea to let them have some ownership. We have created some of our own gestures to go with some skills that there are no PowerPix or gestures for though, and that works great as well! We'll have to work on some coming up with our own PowerPix! Thanks for the idea!

I like this idea. I'm thinking I'll start working with my class to make 5th grade power pix as a way to review for state testing. Thanks for the tip!
